SWE2 Information

This board is similar to our SWE1 sensor but with the addition of four RJ45 sockets into which you can plug sensors such as our SWE0 Wired Temperature Sensor.

This module is a very simple passive device with a total of six RJ45 sockets, a set of screw terminals and a DS18B20 temperature sensor. Its primary use it to allow you to connect multiple SWE0 sensors so your 1-Wire network although it can also be used to connect other devices.

The PCB is 65x29mm. The RJ45 sockets overhang by around 7mm giving an overall module size of 65x43mm. The module is 20mm high.

In normal use the two RJ45 sockets on the bottom edge of the PCB are used to connect the board inline to your network using standard RJ45 cables. The 4 RJ45 sockets along the top edge of the PCB can then be used to connect 1-Wire sensors to the board, such as our SWE0 or SWE1 temperature sensors.

If this is the last device on your network you can also use the second socket on the bottom edge for an additional SWE0. If you are connecting the module into your network using the screw terminals you can use both RJ45 sockets on the bottom of the PCB for sensors if you wish, allowing a total of up to six SWE0 sensors to be connected.

It should be noted that this is a passive device and not an active 1-Wire hub and as such the lengths of the cables on the attached devices should ideally be less than 3m in order to ensure reliability of the network. In practice, however, you can often get away with much longer cables but this cannot be guaranteed.
